As President of Americans For Prosperity from 2006 through 2021, Tim Phillips led the dramatic growth of that organization from a few thousand activists with staff in seven states to over four million activists with hundreds of staff in thirty-five states. Americans For Prosperity became the nation’s premier free-market grassroots organization with an annual budget exceeding $100 million. Phillips served as the organization’s chief strategist, fundraiser, media spokesperson, grassroots leader, and advocate for elected officials in Congress and state legislative chambers nationwide.
In 1997, Phillips joined Ralph Reed as a founding partner at Century Strategies, which grew into one of the nation’s leading political consulting and government affairs firms. Clients included Bush for President in 2000 (both the nomination and general election) and 2004; successful senate, congressional and gubernatorial candidates nationwide; and Fortune 500 companies. Beginning in 1990, Phillips also served with Ralph Reed as a grassroots advisor\consultant in helping build Christian Coalition, which became the nation’s largest Evangelical Christian political advocacy organization in the nation.
From 1993 through 1996, Phillips served as Chief of Staff to Republican Congressman Robert Goodlatte from Virginia after managing Goodlatte’s first winning campaign. From 1988 through 1992, Phillips built his political consulting and government affairs firm with clients from Washington, D.C., to Florida.
Tim has lectured and helped build grassroots movements in Latin America and Europe for over two decades. He closely follows politics in those regions and often travels to both regions as part of his work.
Over the years, Tim Phillips has consistently appeared on television networks like ABC, CBS, Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, PBS, Bloomberg, and Newsmax, as well as online/print outlets such as New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, National Review, Reuters, Politico, Associated Press and many more.
