Stephen Guice


As Hyperfocal’s Vice President of Strategic Communications, Dr. Stephen Guice draws on a career in diplomacy, public affairs and policy. He received his B.A. (Honors, Phi Beta Kappa), M.A., and Ph.D. in Linguistics from Michigan State University. He taught applied and theoretical linguistics before joining the U.S. Department of State and also served two years as a Senior Fulbright Scholar in Iași, Romania.

In his 20-year career in the State Department, Stephen served extensively in Central Asia and the Caucasus. He was last the Deputy Chief of Mission in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, and also served as Head of the Office of Policy and Evaluation at the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Deputy Director of Press and Public Diplomacy for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, and Public Affairs Counsellor in Baku, Azerbaijan and Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
